MEET WENDY

Wendy Waggener graduated from the Contemporary Alexander School, studying with Robyn Avalon, and a post-grad year with Midori Shinkai in Kyoto, Japan. She has taught a combination of violin and Alexander Technique at Oberlin Conservatory, the Colburn School, Montecito International Music Festival, Cleveland Institute of Music, Meadowmount School of Music, the National Cello Institute, and the Los Angeles Suzuki Institute. She has also taught private lessons and workshops at Hillcrest Retirement Community and for other health professionals. She earned degrees in Violin Performance from Oberlin Conservatory and New England Conservatory, along with a degree in anthropology from Oberlin College. She divides her time between an active private Alexander studio and a large private violin studio in Southern California and holds contract positions with several professional orchestras.

Wendy is a supporting faculty member of the Contemporary Alexander School, led by Robyn Avalon and based in Santa Fe and New York City. Students who are interested in a deeper understanding of the work can apply to the Contemporary Alexander School, and complete some of the training hours with Wendy in LA. The Contemporary Alexander School is a member of the Alexander Alliance International, with training programs in the USA, Japan, and Europe. Contemporary Alexander LA students have the opportunity to travel and study with international teachers.
